01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
When choosing beans, start with the shop’s Alha-MIX blend or explore coffees from individual origins. At Arimoto coffee shop, there’s room to pick according to your mood or the way you usually drink coffee. One traveller bought Alha-MIX and Colombian beans and enjoyed both as hot coffee at home. They described the Colombian as bright and clean, with sweetness reminiscent of praline and chocolate. Alha-MIX had similar flavours, they said, but was smoother and less acidic. Another customer found Alha-MIX light-roasted, enjoying its fruity acidity and easy-drinking character. If you prefer a lighter cup, the blend may be a good place to start; for a chance to compare the character of different beans, try a single-origin coffee.
Customers have also mentioned single-origin options such as Mocha Mattari, Mandheling and Guatemala. One person who tried the Mocha Mattari noted a sweet-and-sour flavour towards the end of the cup. The names offer a way to branch out from your usual blend. A traveller reported being able to ask for purchased beans to be ground, too—a useful option if you want them prepared for your usual brewing equipment. You can take the roastery’s beans home and enjoy them hot, or try the blend iced; either way, the shop’s coffee can be part of your plans beyond the visit.
Arimoto coffee shop is a coffee roastery and offers takeout, including beans to take home. The shop states that it accepts cash only, so it’s best to bring some along.
